The Sentencing Academy

We are a research and engagement charitable incorporated organisation dedicated to developing understanding of sentencing in England and Wales and informing public debate.

We promote an evidence-based approach to sentencing and encourage effective sentencing practices that reduce re-offending, provide justice to victims, and promote public confidence.

We do this by

• conducting and commissioning original research on sentencing issues and the impact of sentencing
• authoring evidence-led consultation responses to inform policy and decision-making
• hosting panels, seminars, and workshops to facilitate discussion and knowledge exchange between researchers, practitioners, and other key stakeholders
